Remembering Marc D. Davis

Marc D. Davis of Scranton passed away at Allied Hospice on Thursday following an illness. A beloved coach within the Abington Heights Comets High School football program, he was 34 years young.
Born in Scranton on October 4, 1990, Marc was the son of mother, Denise Ruth (Davis) Strickland, and step-father, the late Robert Strickland. A proud 2009 graduate of Abington Heights High School and member of the school’s football squad, he was most recently employed by Allied Services.
Marc will be remembered in countless ways. He loved his football and was a loyal fan to Tom Brady and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He enjoyed professional wrestling (The Undertaker) and he had become a familiar face and the best customer of FYE at the Viewmont Mall. He loved parties, holidays and being a part of the AHHS football program, especially being alongside coaches and dear friends, Joe Repshis and Dave Holley.
Marc’s memory will forever live on through the hearts of his loved ones.
Along with Denise, he is survived by his grandmother, Marilyn Woellmer of Clarks Summit; his siblings, Kelly Strickland and Jacob of Scranton, Kyle Strickland of Newfoundland and Chad and Savannah Strickland of Falls; aunts and uncles including Kristin Hamilton and husband Mark of Millerton, Richard Woellmer and wife Cathy of Bethel, Deborah Walsh of Roaring Brook Twp. who shared a special bond with Marc, and Marji Powers of Newtown; and four nieces and cousins.
He was also preceded in deaths by grandfathers, Joseph Davis and Daryl Woellmer; and uncles, beloved Michael Walsh and Richard Mirtz.
His family will forever be grateful to all of the health care professionals who had taken such great care of him, especially Allied Hospice; and to the special coaches, players and administration of Abington Heights High School who truly made Marc feel like family.
A celebration of Marc’s life is scheduled for Friday at noon at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with services by Frank Passetti. Burial will follow at Uniondale Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until services.
